Attitude is what you make it

I was talking to a new friend last night about how our attitudes are really self-defined. We cannot let our circumstances dictate our attitudes, rather we must choose to react to our circumstances positively or negatively.

Working in higher end retail, I have certainly learned this quickly. It’s my job to serve the customer and make them happy, regardless of their attitude and the way they treat me. It’s not always easy to smile and be friendly to every customer, but I do try to make sure I’m happy and ready to help them, no matter what.

The same is true with difficult people, some of whom I have in my life presently. I’m learning, slowly but surely, to remind myself not to let them get to me. Most days, this simply takes the form of reminding myself that whatever I’m asked to do I will do to the very best of my ability.
